Thoughts

I love that both the leads in this story are trapped and having to act against their will. And that, ultimately, they decide to trust each other and help one another out. It may not be the nicest Meet Cute, but it was definitely a good way to create an unbreakable bond between the two – particularly as they would normally hate each other on sight due to past traumas.

The relationship within this story is initially a little, lot bit more lust driven than love driven. I might not appreciate that in a full-length novel, but in a novella, it works brilliantly. It made the storyline and the relationship move along incredibly quickly, and I also enjoy a fairly lust driven, explicit story every now and then.

As a big sister, I understand doing anything to protect your baby sister. And I love that Amaris was this way inclined. I mean, the anything in this story encompasses a lot more than I could ever imagine. But, it was a great aspect of her character. I love that she’s also completely aware that everything she does is part of a trap – she’s not blindly and wilfully being lead into a dead end. She’s just scrambling to get out of a horrifying situation in anyway she can.

The idea of Blood Roses and vampires might have a bit of a courtesan vibe, but I really liked it. I would love more stories based in this world of Blood Roses and vampires. Court politics and war.

Thoughts

Everything about this anthology made me happy. Although one novella wasn’t in a series that I’ve read before, they’re all by authors on my shelves that I genuinely enjoy. All four tales were steamy and yummy. They had great aspects of the paranormal in them. And, most importantly, each and every one of these tales can easily be read alone, even if you have no idea about the rest of the series.

Reading this was like a great walk through a familiar neighbourhood. Knight, Davidson, and Sunny’s series represented in this anthology are in my shelves, ready to go. In fact, reading these novellas bumped those books up my TBR. And even Kantra’s tale has another novella sitting on my shelves ready to go. And it acted as a reminder to finish another series by her that I’ve begun.

I seriously adored this collection of four novellas. They were perfect read on my kobo late at night when I wasn’t really ready to do the whole going to sleep thing. Long enough to enthral me, but short enough that I could start and finish them right before falling asleep. A great anthology, one that I will most definitely look forward to reading again and again.

Thoughts

Although this is a story that takes place in the Mageverse series and gives a bit more context to the storyline. At its core, this is a great story about someone breaking the patterns of abuse. Not just finding her true love and a happily ever after but figuring out a way to escape the abuse of not only a stalker man, but her own damn father. I loved the romance in this, but I also loved how Elena is able to break a truly horrible cycle that doesn’t often get broken.

The use of werewolves and vampires in the Mageverse series is completely unique and awesome. I haven’t actually read any of the full-length novels as of yet, but every time I pick up a novella, I can’t quite figure out why I haven’t done that yet. The fact that werewolves were “created” as a check and balance for the vampires was incredibly fun. So not only do I want more of Elena and Lucas, but I just want more of the Mageverse werewolves in general.

I loved Elena for her strength of character in a ridiculous situation, but I also just loved Lucas. He is ridiculously yummy, and although I don’t necessarily subscribe to the whole idea of a man coming to my rescue… I can’t imagine not wanting Lucas to come my way… I mean, good man, yummy chest, set God… who wouldn’t want that?

The ending of this is completely predictable in so many ways. Particularly the Spirit Link. Although, I was surprised at a few of the conclusions to the other relationships in this. A wonderful novella, one that I seriously enjoyed.

Synopsis

Go beyond your wildest fantasies.
Go beyond your most forbidden dreams.
Go further than any woman has ever dared to go…

Four bestselling authors of paranormal romance and erotic thrills take readers into a seductive midnight world of demons, mages, vampires, and knights, of queens with devilish secrets, and of devils with secret desires. Going this far is so dangerous, so exciting, so captivating, you may never want to come back down to earth.

Thoughts

I really, really enjoyed this collection. It was full of romance, fun and lust. A little more intensely erotic than some of my romances. But also not overbearingly so. The perfect balance for the type of stories that I enjoy.

I did buy this because at the moment I’m devouring the Breeds series by Lora Leigh. However, it did get bumped up my wishlist because I know and thoroughly enjoy the other three authors. I also like that the story by Emma Holly is also part of a series that I’m already half reading. Then the other two novellas were beautifully pleasant standalones.

This collection was darkly sensual and seriously wonderful. I loved jumping into these four worlds and being swept away. A collection that I will definitely read again.

Synopsis

Angela Knight does it… in the psychic realm of a woman attuned to the touch of strangers – and the powerful temptations of a seductive and mysterious protector.

Thoughts

I really, really loved this concept – that random people get powers and are called hypers. And that the source of these powers is aliens… I love how Knight’s novellas are able to take a concept that you kind of expect… and change it into a really unique SciFi spin!

Arial and Josiah are a great couple. I thought that they were seriously cute from the very beginning. And I definitely was routing for them from the very beginning. I also love the way that Josiah is trying to keep celibate (and the reasons for why). And how Arial just steadily and happily makes him give it all up… it’s a fun storyline. Or at least, my happy little brain finds it fun.

But, mostly I love how these characters with superpowers have managed to find a way to coexist and find their happily ever afters. I can completely imagine Arial and Josiah and Psych running off into the future fighting more bad guys and making more sense of the incredibly unique world that Knight has managed to create.

Synopsis

The New York Times bestselling author of the Mageverse novels makes her wildest moves yet in Wicked Games…

Anglea Knight’s reimagining of the Arthurian elgend in her Mageverse novels has been praised as “inventive, livey, and sexy as hell”. Now, in Wicked Games, she delivers an all-new novella, and a sensual new kick, to her Mageverse world. In a revealing prequel that draws together Arthur, Lancelot, and Guinevere in an explosive triangle, she sets the stage for the Mageverse magic, for the masterful men, and for the beautiful women who live to serve, outwit, and bewitch them

Plus! Angela Knight at her provocative best in two bonus novellas that have previously appeared in a different form…

In Bondage, Beauty and the Beast, lovely Brianne is sold as a bondslvae to Lord Ardolf Greycastle. Ardolf needs Brianne to break the spell that turned him into a beast, but to do that he must win her love even as he dominates her without mercy.

When female Confederate spy Rose Carson seduces a handsome Union Officer in A Question of Pleasure, it is only to gather secrets. She never expected to fall in love, or to submit to his extreme demands when he discovers her duplicity.

Thoughts

This is definitely not a collection for the faint of heart. It’s pretty graphic and intense. Although, to be fair, Knight does warn the reader of that in her introduction. She admits that some of this is seriously intense and based on the approach to the genre in the past. Which isn’t exactly PG or really all that great to women at times… I love that this book comes with a warning though. Not only did it make me laugh, but it was also great to know exactly what I was getting into before turning the first page… and to know that you probably shouldn’t read this in public.

To be honest, although this is a collection of three stories, it’s almost one novel with two short stories thrown in. The Once and Future Lover is almost one close to full-length novel. It’s filled with chapters, an intense storyline and a great journey that you won’t want to put down. The next two stories are much shorter and a little quicker to get through. Although, I actually found them a lot more intense than the first story… maybe because there was no gradual build up to the BDSM.

Every story in this is erotic and intense. There is BDSM, anal and a lot of other sexual choices that I wasn’t really aware of. Definitely an enjoyable eye-opener, just one that I don’t think I’ll be sharing with my friends and family at any point soon.

Synopsis

Thoughts

Of all the stories in Wicked Games, this is the one that I liked the least. They all made me get a little uncomfortable and pushed my boundaries a little… but this one didn’t just push my boundaries, it took me over the edge. Solely because in this the man who supposedly loves his sub woman forces her to be with another man… honestly, BDSM is fine, experiences like what were described in this are fairly acceptable. Being forced into it with a third party. I just don’t see how that is done by someone you love.

Having said all of that, I did like that this was about spies and the Yankees versus Rebels. It was kind of nice to have a little spy versus spy story set in a time when people were on the verge of change. And, since I know literally nothing about this period of American history, it was kind of interesting to get what little insight this story did give me.

Honestly, I would have probably thoroughly enjoyed this tale if it wasn’t for the fact that there was another man involved. I’m just having some serious troubles moving past that one…

Thoughts

I’m fairly tame with my sexuality and sex life. So sometimes reading things that are quite imaginary and intense floors me. But, there’s not many that are that intense. I also have a wonderful imagination. This pushed my buttons. Multiple times I thought I’d probably need to put down the story. Mostly because I’m not really comfortable with BDSM I think. I was also fascinated. It was a very, very weird feeling.

Actually, the intensity of the bondage and DomSub in this story was so intense that I physically squirmed while reading it. But I kept plugging along. And, once I got past a certain point… it was actually really, really good. Getting over the graphic erotic descriptions, the storyline is somewhat amazing and an interesting take on a classic.

This is literally Beauty and the Beast. DomSub style… BDSM to the max. It’s destroyed one of my favourite children’s classics a little bit. But also made it so much more fun!

Thoughts

This is a fantastic paranormal romance, erotica collection. It’s wonderfully lustful and desirable. The women are all strong-willed and strong-minded, which I always love. And, ultimately the worlds that were introduced were intense, powerful and impossible to forget.

Luckily, I already know and love all of the authors in this collection. Reading this doesn’t clog up the rest of my wish list, but it does make me grateful that these women help to fill my shelves. These stories are filled with some intriguing paranormal creatures and incredibly passionate nights. Which were great late at night when I was curled up feeling a little lonely myself.

The very intense and lustful nature of these stories honestly makes me just want to pick up all of the novels that I have on my shelves. There is something intriguing about these authors and the worlds they create that are kind of impossible to keep out of your head. Which is kind of why I love them so much…

Thoughts

After reading The Once and Future Lover, I was SERIOUSLY hoping that Lance was going to get his happily ever after. I just felt so sorry for him in every way shape and form. Actions that weren’t his fault completely alienated him from not only his best friend, but also the woman he had a friendship and infatuation with. So I desperately wanted him to find his own version of happily ever after. Which he does in this novella. The fact that the woman is one who tells Arthur to go shove it… well, it made me exceedingly happy.

As much as I enjoy a good, lustful romance. I sometimes get a bit annoyed at how quickly the women succumb to the men’s advances. I probably wouldn’t be any better… but I still get a bit over it. I seriously love that Grace fights Lance’s attractions for quite a while before she ends up succumbing. And she’s determined to not be something less than who and what she is.

There are so many deliciously devious machinations to get the upper hand throughout this story. I love the plotting. I wouldn’t want it in my own life, but all of the machinations throughout had me laughing and not being able to put down the story. The fact that it also intrigued me as to why and who was doing what, manipulating whom… well, I can’t wait to see what Knight can do with a whole novel…
