Synopsis

In a revealing prequel that draws together Arthur, Lancelot, and Guinevere in an explosive triangle, she sets the stage for the Mageverse magic, for the masterful men, and for the beautiful women who live to serve, outwit, and bewitch them.

Thoughts

I’ve never read the stories of Camelot, but I would love to read more. And this was a great, paranormal romance, vampire-esque introduction to the storylines. Alright, it’s not quite Camelot, but it’s a great take on it. Especially the affair between Lancelot and Guinevere. It made it so much less adulterous, and a little more understanding…

At the beginning of this story, there is a little introduction that provides Knight’s reasoning and view points to writing her Mageverse series. She also mentions that Arthur is more of a bastard than she realised. I agree wholeheartedly. There is just something about him that makes me want to reach through the pages and… well, punch him. He does grow on you a little throughout the story, and at the end there is less of a punchy-punch feeling, but it still makes me kind of annoyed. I’m actually looking forward to seeing how his damn attitude changes over the series…

This is a really, really intense story. Not just for the sexuality in it, which, if you’re not really into reading about erotic moments (and that’s putting it lightly) … then you probably don’t want to read this series. Or this novella. It’s also intense just because of the emotions in the storyline. The feelings that Gwen experiences are seriously intense and make you want to comfort her. It’s really impossible to forget about this story or really put it down… ever.

A Little Night Magic by Allyson James

But Naomi must put disbelief aside when her Navajo lover reveals that he is a Changer, a shapeshifter, and has returned to Magellan to protect her from grave anger on Christmas Eve.

A Christmas Kiss by Lora Leigh
Jess has been in isolation for the past year… ever since she betrayed the people she loves the most. Yet, it’s Hawke’s unwillingness to visit her that really hurts her the most. As secrets are revealed and truths discovered, will Jess and Hawke finally find a way to be together?

Thoughts

This is a fantastic novella collection. Especially since it’s got a Christmas theme, but really wasn’t Christmassy at all. Actually, other than the fact that each of these novellas was set around the festive season, there was nothing truly Christmassy about any of these. Which made me much, much happier. I’m just not that into the festive season this year…

I bought this collection because I had one of the series in it (Stormwalker). And then, not long after, started the second one (Breeds). In reading this, I also got to discover two new, great series that are most definitely going on my wish list. It made a great, fun collection. One that took me to new worlds and made me want to just sink my teeth into each and every one of these four series…

Although this is in the paranormal romance section of my bookshelves, it’s really not all the romancey. There are a few stories in this that are intensely lustful, and in every single one there is a couple and sex. But, ultimately it was more about finding a way to be happy with one another, not about the actual overboard romance.

Thoughts

My first ever Mageverse story! I’ve been looking at this series for a while, because, quite frankly, I’m just intrigued by the idea of a series based on vampires that are also knights of the round table. And this completely lived up to all of my expectations! I’ve read a novella or two of Knight’s which are just lustful enough for me to be happy. And this kept up that trend. But you know… it added in this idea of vampires, werewolves, witches and Camelot. What girl (or person, however you want to approach this) wouldn’t fall madly in love?

As with many novellas, this was a great, quick, easy and quite lustful read. Which, of course, is exactly what the doctor ordered. Or at least, that’s the case in my crazy, happy mind. The attraction between the two leads is there from the very beginning, although, it does take them a little while to build up to it. In my opinion, I much prefer this – don’t get the whole insta love thing. But I digress. I love that although they’re both attracted from the beginning, and the story does centre on this… it’s not what made me want to keep reading. Don’t get me wrong, the romance was freaking fantastic. But the mystery of what was wrong with Christmas and what happened in the past… I was so much more intrigued by that.

Both Kat and Ridge have a tragic history in this story. Yet, it’s Kat’s that really drew me in. Her not well mother, her lost sister and the mystery that surrounds everything was seriously difficult to put down. The fact that you find out in the opening moments that she’s also Lancelot’s daughter… I just had to know more!

Synopsis

Passion runs as hot as a fever dream in these all-new stories by four New York Times bestselling provocateurs of the paranormal…

In Angela Knight’s Blood and Roses, a vampire warrior and his seductive captor join forces to stop a traitor from unleashing an army of demonic predators on their kingdom.

New in Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series is Whisper of Sin, in which a woman in lethal danger finds an unlikely protector – and lover – in a volatile member of the DarkRiver pack.

Virginia Kantra continues the haunting tales of the Children of the Sea in Shifting Sea, the story of a wounded soldier rescued by a strange and enigmatic young woman.

Meljean Brook launches a bold new steampunk series with Here There Be Monsters, as a desperate woman strikes a provocative – and terrifying – bargain to gain overseas passage.

Thoughts

I’ve had this collection sitting on my shelf for ages. I just haven’t gotten around to reading it… until now. And now I’m wondering why I took so long to sink my literary teeth in… I already had the Psy-Changeling series, but now I have another three paranormal romance series to obsess over… when they eventually arrive on my doorstep.

The themes and paranormal characters in this collection of four novellas run the gambit. There’s a steampunk tale with pirates, a romance with a leopard shapeshifter and one with vampires and their battles. The romances are instantaneous and involve a lot of running away… the only thing that these four novellas really have in common is the fact that they are all intense, fun and have a good ending. Although, maybe not good stories to read when you have to sleep alone….

In Angela Knight’s BB Blood and Roses BB, a vampire warrior and his seductive captor join forces to stop a traitor from unleashing an army of demonic predators on their kingdom.

Thoughts

This is now my second novella by Angela Knight that I’ve had the fortune of reading. And like Mad Dog Love, I found the opening pages didn’t really grab me. However, this time I knew that I had to persevere with the opening, and I would sink into something amazing. And I was completely right!

This paranormal romance novella takes you on a journey through a world with vampires and knights. Wars and traitors. The fact that there is a lustful romance that takes centre stage just helps to build upon the beauty of the storyline. There’s just something so sweet (if in a slightly backwards way) about Amaris and Raniero throughout this tale. Something that completely drew me in and made it impossible to put down this story (you know, once I’d gotten over the first few pages).

Although it is incredibly obvious that the two leads are going to fall for one another, and hard, I still enjoyed the journey. And there were still moments when I wondered if their past hang-ups would lead to a not-so-happily ever after. Not enough to make me frustrated, but enough to help raise the stakes of the storyline.

I might have loved the romance in this novella. But honestly, my favourite character was Marin. There was just something so unbelievably cute, sweet and innocent about her. Something that makes me smile every time I reflect back on this story.

5th sentence, 74th page: True, he wasn’t the most handsome male she’d ever seen.

Synopsis

Zarifa needs a bodyguard. Mad Dog needs to escape. Maybe the two of them will be able to work out a way to get what they need, while fighting their passions.

Thoughts

I have never read a science fiction-esque story that features werewolves. It was so completely unexpected and new that it took me quite a while to actually get into it. But then I realised how great an idea the nano-bots through the blood stream were and how much I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Now I’m hooked.

There is a fairly typical storyline throughout this paranormal romance novella – boy meets girl in unorthodox circumstances (in this case she hires him to be her bodyguard slave), they fall in lust, start to fall in love. A spanner is thrown into the works, then they realise that they want to be together forever anyway. However, the fact that the girl was an empress with combat skills who had been drugged her entire life, the boy was an incredibly powerful and deadly werewolf, and there was a royal conspiracy afoot. That’s what made this novella so different and special. Now I just have to find a new Angela Knight story to sink my teeth into…

Synopsis

In this seductive anthology, four masters of paranormal romance explore the boundaries of erotic shape-shfiting fantasy – and shatter them.

Something happens when the beast within is teased and tempted. Something dangerous. Something inescapable. Somethin so irresistible no woman would want to run from it.

Whether transforming beneath a cool blue moon, prowling the night streets with feline grace and bloodred talons, or panting with pleasure, the shifters come alive to fulfill your wildest fantasies…

Thoughts

I didn’t really realise how much I’m obsessed with paranormal romance and shapeshifters… until I read this collection. And loved every single story, and now have a one-track obsession with each of the three series and four authors. Which is a monetary issues, because I don’t really want to be buying all of these series… and new authors… but I kind of have…

I love that the paranormal romance stories throughout this anthology run the gamut of sexual intensity. From sweet and gentle courtship to rough and tumble lust, these four stories highlight romance and passion in a way that made me miss my other half (he was away while I was reading most of this).

Although the majority of these tales featured a feline shapeshifter (I don’t know why, but these are so incredibly enthralling), there were others throughout. The different forms, moods and temperaments of a similar theme worked well against the often lustful romance, and now I have to be patient in waiting for the next book sin all of these series to arrive on my doorstep…
