Thoughts

This is a fantastic paranormal romance, erotica collection. It’s wonderfully lustful and desirable. The women are all strong-willed and strong-minded, which I always love. And, ultimately the worlds that were introduced were intense, powerful and impossible to forget.

Luckily, I already know and love all of the authors in this collection. Reading this doesn’t clog up the rest of my wish list, but it does make me grateful that these women help to fill my shelves. These stories are filled with some intriguing paranormal creatures and incredibly passionate nights. Which were great late at night when I was curled up feeling a little lonely myself.

The very intense and lustful nature of these stories honestly makes me just want to pick up all of the novels that I have on my shelves. There is something intriguing about these authors and the worlds they create that are kind of impossible to keep out of your head. Which is kind of why I love them so much…

Synopsis

Thoughts

After reading The Once and Future Lover, I was SERIOUSLY hoping that Lance was going to get his happily ever after. I just felt so sorry for him in every way shape and form. Actions that weren’t his fault completely alienated him from not only his best friend, but also the woman he had a friendship and infatuation with. So I desperately wanted him to find his own version of happily ever after. Which he does in this novella. The fact that the woman is one who tells Arthur to go shove it… well, it made me exceedingly happy.

As much as I enjoy a good, lustful romance. I sometimes get a bit annoyed at how quickly the women succumb to the men’s advances. I probably wouldn’t be any better… but I still get a bit over it. I seriously love that Grace fights Lance’s attractions for quite a while before she ends up succumbing. And she’s determined to not be something less than who and what she is.

There are so many deliciously devious machinations to get the upper hand throughout this story. I love the plotting. I wouldn’t want it in my own life, but all of the machinations throughout had me laughing and not being able to put down the story. The fact that it also intrigued me as to why and who was doing what, manipulating whom… well, I can’t wait to see what Knight can do with a whole novel…

Thoughts

I do believe in love at first sight. Yet, I always find it a bit bleugh when I read about it. There is just something about it that feels kind of ridiculous when I read a story which features someone who falls stupid in love on first sight. Not sure why, since I did the same thing myself. Yet, the love at first sight in this kind of worked. Probably because although he fell in love pretty quickly, she took her time about it and didn’t just melt when she was told that Bastien loved her.

I still haven’t managed to buy any of the books in the Midnight series, but this has definitely inspired me to want to even more. There is something great about this version of vampires that makes me completely intrigued. Like the other stories which I’ve got on my shelves by Emma Holly. She just has such a unique, romantic spin on paranormal creatures that I don’t normally come across.

I can’t imagine being a vampire… I love being in the sun WAY too much. Yet, I love that this story features a woman who tends to be a bit of a night owl herself. Makes it a little less inconvenient when she is turned into a vampire against her will.

Lastly, I love that there is a great sense of karma in this story. After being left by her ex-husband and betrayed by her best friend… karma came full circle and gave me this great happiness when the story sadly ended.

Synopsis

A science professor enters the steamy bayou to find a new species of animal, convinced that its presence is behind the stories of lycanthropy in the region, but finds herself tempted by a legendary creature straight out of her most sensual nightmare…

Thoughts

Werewolf romances are definitely my guilty pleasure. There is just something about them that completely draws me in. And I don’t know why. Werewolves aren’t really supposed to be such a romantic creature… yet, I absolutely lap up any werewolf romance which comes across my lap. Like this novella. I had to actually walk around, watering my gardens with my nose in the book, I just didn’t want to put it down.

Probably one of the things that ridiculously drew me to this story was the fact that Jenny is a scientist. Alright, I’m not hugely into Cryptozoology as a field… although it could be seriously intriguing. But all of her actions? Yup, they’re the activities of a scientist. And there’s also the moral questions that most scientists must face – where is the line that you must draw in inquiry? How far can you go before you’ve gone way too far? The Manhattan Project always comes to mind when I think of this dilemma…

I read this novella just after I finished Dead Girls are Easy, so it was kind of interesting to read a second voodoo story in such a short amount of time. I like that the lycanthropy was a voodoo curse placed on an ancestor because he did the wrong thing. It was certainly a different take on why people becomes lycanthropes, and one that I found enjoyably refreshing.

Synopsis

In a dark jungle, a beautiful activist liberates animals from a secret laboratory—and stumbles across an unexpected prisoner. She releases the Carpathian from his bonds—only to unleash his voracious appetite on herself…

Thoughts

I’ve had the Carpathians series sitting on my shelves for quite a while… yet, I haven’t actually started reading it just yet. Mostly because I’m trying to finish off some other series first… but now that I’ve read my first novella in this universe… I’m incredibly keen to start this series too!!! It’s a typical, intense Feehan tale. One that is about possession, obsession and love. And all of those slightly darker emotions that seem to be built upon when dealing with romances.

I loved that this story featured two different supernatural groups which are on the verge of extinction. The ways in which the different men and women are trying to ensure their survival. Again, much, much darker than typically expected. Feehan most certainly likes to highlight some of our baser instincts and emotions. It made for a somewhat easy read, but still one that made me have to stop and pause, really think about what I was reading. Definitely not a feel good story, but most certainly an enjoyable one.

Sadly, this is one of those novellas that I would normally just read in one sitting. That’s one of the things I love about novellas… they’re a quick, easy read that can fill in the gaps. Sadly, I’ve been having some serious issues with concentrating lately, and it took me three days to get through. I’m sure when I get to Dark Prince, I’ll be able to get through it at a much quicker rate.
