I use the term high fantasy to refer to the fantasy books that are incredibly complex. The ones that you have to pay attention to every minute detail because if you miss one, then the rest of the story just won’t make sense. They’re about destiny and fate and a number of ideas that are really theoretically complex – even if it’s just the creation of a whole new world like Pern. I don’t recommend reading these books unless you are happy to sit down and actually pay attention to what you are reading.
